What does it do?

Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, often called Crow’s Feet can start occurring as early as your 20s!

At NU Clinic, we offer Botulinum Toxin (Wrinkle-/ Muscle-relaxing injections/Botox), which is an incredibly effective treatment for softening and often completely erasing Crow’s Feet.

    For most individuals, it is the most efficient and reliable treatment available for this area. It is important to note that this treatment works best when administered before the wrinkles become deep or firmly set in the skin.

who is it for?

At our clinic, we believe in the power of early intervention to achieve the best results in targeting Crow’s Feet. By addressing these lines before they become static wrinkles (wrinkles that appear at rest without facial expressions), we often have the opportunity to completely erase them. Botulinum toxin, with its muscle-relaxing effect, works wonders in softening and preventing the development of these lines.

However, if the wrinkles have already set in as static wrinkles, the treatment can still be highly effective in relaxing the muscle and softening the appearance of the lines. Over time and with repeated treatments, significant reduction can be achieved. For individuals with static wrinkles, we recommend a combination approach and can make suitable recommendations during your consultation.

TREATMENT + recovery

Appointment duration is 30 minutes, with the actual treatment time lasting approximately 5 minutes with very minimal downtime. Results vary, most patients observe a return of full muscle movement between 3-6 months.

  • As with any medical treatment, there are potential side effects and risks to consider. Mild bruising, headaches, and cold-like symptoms are common after the treatment. In some cases, slight asymmetry may occur, especially if there was some asymmetry present before the treatment. However, this is usually easily corrected during your follow-up appointment.

    We take great care in administering Crows Feet Wrinkle-Relaxing Injections, and it is considered a low-risk area for complications. However, some individuals might initially feel like they can't smile fully due to the relaxation of the muscles around the eyes that are involved in smiling. This effect typically subsides after a few weeks, and the smile returns to normal. Additionally, some patients may notice a slight increase in cheek prominence due to restricted muscle activity around the eyes. This, too, is a temporary effect and resolves on its own.

  • Most patients do not find muscle relaxing injections painful, but some mild discomfort is to be expected. Dr Oonagh often likens the sensation to get your eyebrows threaded.

  • If you have more pronounced wrinkles we might explore alternative options during a consultation, focusing on skin rejuvenation treatments to cater to your unique needs.

    It is essential to note that allergies to Botulinum toxin are extremely rare. For the safety of our clients, we cannot administer this treatment to individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding.   • Wrinkle relaxing injections are not permanent, and both their effects and any side effects will wear off over time. It is normal to begin experiencing some movement in the treated area around 8 weeks after the injections. This is not an indication that the treatment has worn off prematurely; it is simply a natural return to muscle activity.
